Whereas an inquisition on this day and year here underwritten, has been taken on view of the body of the late Edward Ferguson of the Parish of St. Armand East, in said District, farmer, who now lies dead in the parish aforesaid. These are therefore to certify that you may lawfully permit the body of the said Edward Ferguson to be buried and for your doing so this is your warrant. Given under my hand and seal at St. Armand East this twenty fourth day of February 1864.

Certificate and warrant to bury the body of Edward Ferguson, farmer.
Verdict
That the said Edward Ferguson of the Parish of St. Armand East and District aforesaid, farmer, aged about seventy two years came to his death at his domicile in said East Parish of St. Armand aforesaid in the afternoon of Monday the twenty second day of February in the year one thousand eight hundred and sixty four in consequence of the diseased state of his heart, his said death having hastened and accelerated by a sudden fit of anger and struggle with his daughter, Lucy Ferguson, and subsequently with his son, Leander Ferguson.

Worden died in 1857 and should be identified as the late Gilbert Worden, deceased; Gilbert and Hannah Worden’s daughter Lydia Catherine died January 10, 1865 as per inscription on her tombstone which is located in the burying ground of Holy Trinity Church. The name as used in the above entry was likely a nickname. The different dates for the death may be due to poor memory at the time of installing the tombstone or an error made in the sad days of Rev. Reid’s stroke and death. RCW)
